Replacing fireplace, hearth and re plastering wall

Hi There,
I have a fireplace in a 1950s/60s purpose build flat (in a block) that needs work. The fireplace is in-active. It was originally a real fire with a back boiler, then at some point a gas fire, then at some point decommissioned. There is a brick facia build over the top of the original tile facia.
We don't require a working fireplace, but would like to remove the old fireplace, replace it with something that looks nicer. Remove all of the brick facial to get back to the original wall and re-plaster.
