Washing machine will not drain or spin

Siemens XLM 1600 washing machine did not drain or spin during normal cycle. After draining all the water through the drain hose, the washing machine would then spin okay. I removed and replaced the pump filter, and found some small metal zip parts blocking the old filter. However after replacing the filter, the washing machine still won't drain or spin, leading me to believe there may be things within the pump itself.
