strip & varnish ground floor wood

i have wooden window frames, skirting boards, door frames/architrave and doors that look tired and tatty on the ground floor of my victorian semi.
some have been previously painted and then stripped (not by me) leaving some paint behind and it does not look good in any way shape or form.
I would like all of the would properly stripping where its required, then treating with a satin varnish or something along those lines.
I would do it myself but i do not have the time and i would probably end up damaging the wood.
Basically, i just want it all to look nice rather than tatty.
