I am looking to buy a new thermostatic bath shower mixer tap. My old tap has temperature control knob on the left and water strength/on-off on the right. Most of the new taps I have been looking at have strength/on-off on the left and temp control on the right. If I buy the reverse of what I have will it matter?

You will find that the hot and cold inlet valves will be all the same , so no it won't matter.
No. It doesn't matter as they do the same job of flow and diversion. The thing to check is the hot and cold feeds are the same on your wall as the unit. They can be switched around, but this is a bigger job.
Hi, It will not matter as industry standard is hot feed on the left so the new tap will be a perfect replacement. Regards steve
It does not matter which side the control is on as long as the cold and hot feed going in is connected correctly.
With plumbing cold feed is always on the right and hot on the left.

all good plumbers know that the cold is on the right side and hot on the left but i have seen jobs that a diy er has put in and they have been the wrong way around so its best to check on the pipe that supplies the tap,and back to the question at hand these mixers are designed to work with the cold on the right side as normal
It wouldn't make the slightest difference from a plumbing perspective. You may experience some discomfort while getting used to the new setup however by turning the 'wrong' tap
No, the pipe work can be corrected to match though it would be easier to have the original setups. Don't worry anything can be done.
as long as piped correctly won't be an issue
No you will be fine buying a modern one
