Hello We have had a conservatory built and basically the company we employed to build it sub contracted the work out. The brickwork is substandard and the contractors agree. The roof and outside brickwork needs to come down and rebuilt so my question is; As the wet weather is fast approaching if the plasterboards and plaster are in situ when it rains will they dry without any adverse affect to them? Thank you
No the plasterboards will get wet which mean they will bow they will be no good to plaster over which means it all has to be re done again if thats the case try and address the problem before hand
once water has made the plaster boards moist they will be spoilt .is there anyway you can fix a plastic membrane of tarpaulin to the boards ?
Plasterboaed will dry out to a degree. However when plaster board gets wet it has a tendency to bow and miss shape due to absorbing water.
The wet weather hitting the plasterboard would create a potential damp patch and that would evemtually show through the plaster. Also it would soften the plasterboard which would soften the gypsm substance and lose its key to which is holding onto the bearing screws. In terms of the roof, as the roof is coming off we would make a tempory roof with batten and felt that guides the water away
Definitely replace them,As not only will they be no good when you decide to paint there's a very likely chance water damage marks will burn through the paint.
Plaster Board cannot get wet as it will ruin the paper on them and I doubt they will dry correctly so I would replace any boards that got soaked from weather
No sorry to say once the board gets wet it can cause issues
Any finished plasterer exposed to the elements will have some damage to them as plaster board and finish plaster is like a sponge and will. Hold the moisture or damp in side itself ..you can pervert this damage to a % by covering the area with plaster a warm heater and a dehumidifier to remove cold and air moisture from area
