Hi, we had to call out an emergency plumber last Sunday for a leak under the sink. He came out and said he didn't have the part and he would come back on the Monday, but we had to pay again for another call out fee, which made it very expensive. Is this usual, as it seemed to us we had to go with it, otherwise we would have been left looking for another plumber.
Seem's harsh but depends on the situation.
Post your job & get responses from local tradespeople. Read reviews before you decide to hire.
As a plumber myself this doesn't sound right at all ! Screwfix b and q wickes places like this are open on a Sunday I'm sure he could of got the part he needed and fixed the same day!
No it's right because plumbers merchant open all day including weekend. He should go and get what needed to done and get it done as soon as possible.
When hiring a plumber you need to ask if when he visits the property will there be a call out fee.
Not every plumber will charge this but most will because time is money to alot of builders
Remember if its a emergancy its a call out which should have a fee.
I carry all parts on my van If I don't have the part and depend where you are I don't charge. if I had to pay congestion then you will be billed.
In my opinion the second visit was to complete work so you should not of had to pay a second call out fee
Utter rubbish, he should have had the part he needed or went off to get it there and then.... That's known as padding the job out
I would not use him again and I would leave feed back eating he charge you for a call out twice
To be honest it depends on the guy but yes it happens
In my experience this is extremely unusual. I personally do not charge a call out fee and more than likely would have had a part with me, or indeed would have been able to source on the same day. I make it part of my quote to state there will be no call out charge and if it's a simple job repair it then for more of a tip than a cost.
I would only charge for the one visit.
