Move fuse box on the other face of same wall

Hi guys, just bought a house in UK. so newbie in UK regulations. I have been working as electrician NOT qualified in Italy for 3 years, so I know what I will deal with, but I do not know if I am allowed by law to do it myself. I have a old fuse box (house is 1978) facing the living room, the main is coming from the same wall where is also located the meter (boxed in) in the entrance to the other face. what I want to do as there is enough space is moving the fuse box in the same cupboard. Can I do it myself? thanks everyone. PS: Plymouth is my city and, hopefully the question is clear enough.

Hi
first of all any changing to an existing circuit or boxes is a notifiable job it mean it must be certified by and authorised and registered electrician BS7671 wiring regulations otherwise it will effect your safety and your property and your home insurance.
it may not look difficult to you but before you start any work you must notify your supplier to come and install an Isolator switch for you between the meter and your fuse box after that you are allowed to start to work on a consumer unit, I think you start with this first and after that you must follow all BS7671 18th Edition wiring regulation to do the box and supervised by a registered electrician or just call a registered tradesman and make more inquiry I hope this could give you some guide lines.

well providing the work (if you do it yourself) meets our regulations . yes you can do the work. but you must inform your local council building control . they will arrange for inspections during the work and a sign off upon completion this could be expensive. why not get a quote from a registered electrician say a stroma member . they are good

Electric installation such as the replacement of a fuse box should be done by qualified individuals who are able to issue a certificate for the installation in accordance with Building regulations. In this instance, a qualified electrician is your best option. We hope this helps.

If not registered with a competent scheme NICEIC etc then you would need to notify building control who would most likely end up sending in a reputable testing company to sign off the work as safe, This cost would probably be more than getting a qualifies certified installer.
