Can you paint over Matt emulsion on skirting boards?

I've recently moved into a flat that the prior owners had painted every surface with matt emulsion, skirting boards doors, window frames, radiators etc. Can you paint over matt emulsion on interior doors and skirting boards with satinwood or gloss? Or does it have to be sanded back before it can be painted? Thanks

I would sand not back to bare wood just enough for the paint to fade then a undercoat and then paint with satinwood or gloss

Hi yes of course you can once all been rubbed down and prepared properly

it does not hurt to sand with fine paper

No for theat you will. Need undercoat for wood and after gloss paint or satin

Hi ,all wood work yes need to be slightly sanded and then apply undercoat before the top coat of satin or gloss .

Use a light sand paper and go over the wood and radiators so you have lightly scratched the surface. You will need a metal primer for radiator and wood primer for skirting boards then gloss over as normal. Hope this helpful to you. CCbuilders.

You can paint over matt emulsion with a satinwood or gloss, however it will dull the sheen of the finishing paint.

Yes but sand them down first

Matt emulation is ok to paint over it, you have to sand them with a 180 grit sandpaper( don’t try to hard) wipe all the dust( very important) and then paint.

It has to be sanded back I’m afraid

Ideally no, but give it a undercoat with oil base first in order no to peels off from the heat in future, than you proceed with satin/gloss for final coat.

Hi yes. You can bm property maintenance

You can paint over it just make sure u undercoat before glossing
