Water pooling on tarmac driveway?

I would be really grateful for some help. I recently had a new tarmac drive done (four weeks ago) however I have noticed every time it rains water pools up in certain places. I have contacted the contractor who has said this is normal & is due to the oil in the tar & should correct itself in four months time with wear & tear! I have checked the gradient & it seems too level which may be behind the problem. He is now suggesting an open graded tar should have been used. I have had a tarmac driveway before on a similar house (terraced) & never had an issue before. The contractor said I’m being petty so would really appreciate some professional advice. Thank you

There should be a fall on the driveway to prevent holding water. On the other hand there must be a low point in the drive that’s why it’s holding water would need cutting out and re-tarmac the area that’s holding water thanks

The gradient is wrong water shouldn’t be sitting on the drive way it should be snapped towards the drains or shaped back out towards the main road

The drive should have been layed, with a slight slope, out of your drive. To fix this issue, maybe have a professional out, to skim the surface, and lay a thin layer of tarmac, over the current surface, at a slope away from your proper, out your driveway, as so the water runs out of your drive, and no pooling.

If this was myself having to pay for a drive that sounds like it's not pitched to a degree for run off into a gutter drain I'd call his bluff and say that you're going to have the work rectified by another company and the have before and after work picture's taken of the jobs done by them and tell them your taking them to court and going to name and shame them they will surely turn up to rectify this issue
