I have taken the old rendering off my outside wall back to the breezeblock. Will it be waterproof for a while
I would recommend brushing over the block work with a water seal if you intent to leave it for a long period or if you’re expecting rain, breeze blocks are not waterproof and would allow moisture and small amounts of water to pass through.
No get something on it before the cold hits
Yes if it’s properly installed. Won’t be keeping for long though
It will be OK but needs to be rendered as soon as possible
The block work will be fine for a while but I would suggest getting it re rendered or possibly painting but just make sure there is no wholes in the joints or blocks as water can get into the cavity and travel threw internal walls
If the breeze blocks have been painted or covered over you are okay, but if it not then no it wont be waterproof and you will need to re-render it or plaster it again.
No as render would have made it sweat and be damp
breeze blocks are very pourous and will absorb moisture and water . do not leave unprotected for long as will cause damp to grow inside the dwelling not outside . suggest you cover with plastic until u can redo the render on the outside or paint the breeze blocks with water proof bitumen tar paint
As long as the joints on the blockwork is full so no water can ingress
You would be best to recover it asap however if it a cavity wall construction you will be ok in the immediate term
Rendering acts like a raincoat to the exposed blocks and what is crucial to understand for any exterior surface, but especially the highly porous breeze blocks, is that moisture is not allowed to absorb into the substrate, which will cause damage not only to the paint work but to the material itself.
The more they are exposed to elements the more they will degrade overtime.
I would highly recommend you speak to a qualified and knowledgeable builder about reapplying render to the property sooner than later after old removal to minimise property damage and further protect your house.
The concrete blocks are not waterproof, so if you have removed the old rendering and have not applied a new layer of waterproofing material, your wall will not be completely waterproof.
Yes but if the brick work is poor then no there possibility a chance water/damp could make it’s way through
It would be better if you could spray a water seal as the mortar may be very dry and soak up water. I would do this either way
Yes, it will be waterproof
Yes it’ll be fine but it’s not ideal.
No, breezeblocks are not waterproof and hold a lot of moisture which will lead to damp problems on the interior. They will need to be re rendered or cladded to avoid this.
Depending on if any block are damaged or not.
