Should my soil drainage vent be higher?

I’ve recently had a soil pipe replaced in my property. The old pipe ended above the roofline, but the new pipe terminates below that. I’ve read that the pipe should terminate about 900mm above openings into the building, but the vent of the pipe is below an extraction fan outlet and an upstairs window. The person doing the work said they had installed a non-admittance valve and that this was fine. I wanted to check whether this is all up to code. Any help and advice would be much appreciated.

The installation as described is likely not compliant with UK Building Regulations (Approved Document H) because an Air Admittance Valve (AAV) does not allow foul air to escape, and thus requires specific installation conditions. The current setup with the termination point below an extraction fan and a window presents a health hazard as sewer gases cannot vent safely and may be drawn into the building.

Should be used internally ideally. However it is not supposed to be with 3m of and opening window. I would personally get it vented above the window or above the rood. You are correct in saying 900mm above hope this helps

A soil pipe should generally terminate above the roofline for proper ventilation. Non admittance valve can be installed to compensate, but this would need further investigation.

While an air admittance valve (AAV) can be a suitable alternative to a traditional vent, the location of the new soil pipe's termination, below an extraction fan and window, is likely not up to code due to potential odor and gas issues. The installer's claim that an AAV makes it acceptable is partially correct, but the placement relative to openings is still crucial
