Emergency Plumber

Hi, we had to call out an emergency plumber last Sunday for a leak under the sink. He came out and said he didn't have the part and he would come back on the Monday, but we had to pay again for another call out fee, which made it very expensive. Is this usual, as it seemed to us we had to go with it, otherwise we would have been left looking for another plumber.

Seem's harsh but depends on the situation.

Hi there,

When hiring a plumber you need to ask if when he visits the property will there be a call out fee.
Not every plumber will charge this but most will because time is money to alot of builders
Remember if its a emergancy its a call out which should have a fee.

Kind regards

Hi I believe this to be very wrong I don't believe in call out charges more no fix no fee otherwise as a tradesman you could just be going round turning up and saying you do not have the parts I call it milking it

Hi,
In my experience this is extremely unusual. I personally do not charge a call out fee and more than likely would have had a part with me, or indeed would have been able to source on the same day. I make it part of my quote to state there will be no call out charge and if it's a simple job repair it then for more of a tip than a cost.

Hello home owner,I'm sad to here that you feel you have been over charged for an emergency plumbing job ,in my experience I would have expected to pay a call out charge for the Sunday, but not for the Monday especially as the plumber didn't have the parts to complete the job on the sunday

Yea I'm afraid so. When you call plumbers after hours is cost moneys that's why it's best to wait to the morning if your not flooding and call plumber in the morning he will come and see and get your part. All plumber charge different prices and remember it's not free for a plumber to travel to your house and you cant get parts at night time. I hope this helped
