Why is my tap dripping?

Ok stupid question I guess, but why is my tap dripping? No matter how tightly I turn it, it continues to drip albeit slowly. What's the problem and how do I solve it?

the rubber stop inside your tap is warn now try and find another, by the time you have tracked one down and reground the tap , would be cheaper to replace the tap

Dependant on the type of tap, it could be the washer or grit stuck on the tap seat causing water to bypass, only thing is it's a minimum one hour call out cost, best change the tap if it's a basic one

It could be a rubber washer what's in the gland of the tap what has warn down and could possibly just need a new rubber washer if that's not the problem then could mean a new tap but to change the washer you would need to isolate your water and take the head off the tap and unscrew the tap fitting from the tap where you will then see the washer what would need changing.

ceramic-tap-glands it's a tap kit easy to change if you could isolate your water. What the problem the rubbers gone rap not closing fully or it could be scaled up.

if it as a washer traditional type it could be split / damaged needs replacing, if it is a ceramic disc that could be damaged you can get replacements but you need to know the type etc if tap is old fit new ones.

The rubber washers on the inside of the tap needs changing, its pershied, gone hard clogged with limescale, that is the reason for the continuous drip drip.
