I want my attic door moved so that I can have a ladder installed...it will require making the ceiling good where the old door was and move lights. What type of tradesman do I need ie a carpenter or a builder - will I also need an electrician?
You require a Muilt skilled builder who has experience doing this kind of work you require.
Should you have difficulty finding one then you will have to get separate trades I.e carpenter, electrian and decorator
You would require a builder, as the old position of the door, would required plastering and also a electrician as the wiring would be altered
You will need a good builder, who knows carpentry. Also yhe best to have electrician, for your own safety. But some builders can do this jobs, if they are not major.
a carpenter or builder would do the work but i would have a electrician to undertake your wiring jobs so my best bet is your builder is the best bet because he would get is own electrician in as a matter of safety
Hi.
It looks like you need a handyman with both carpentry skills and good eye for detail to finish it off and fix all the areas on the ceiling after ladder is fitted.
Moving ceiling lights is pretty straightforward but basic electrical knowledge is a must.=
You need a joiner and probably a electrician and plasterer
A carpenter would be best placed to carry out the work but maybe a handyman who carries out carpentry and plastering could do the complete job
Hi there im jason from kjb platering you will need a plasterer and joiner i can offer both trades to complete your job. if it is still available let me know by shortlisting me to veiw it many thanks jason @kjb
May entail bridling ceiling joists to form bigger hatch for loft ladder also in general, moving the light fitting can be done without the need for an electrician
Hi, a carpenter would be able to install a new hatch in the new location as well as infill the existing hatch. I would highly recommend using a certified electrician to move your lights. Some are pretty straight forward and can be easily moved by a keen DIYer but personally for me electrics and gas should only be touched by those who are qualified to do so.
A general builder would possibly be able to do the full job. General builders tend to be comfortable practicing several trades and therefore is more likely to complete the full job by himself.
Don't forget you'll also want the existing hatch to be filled and painted once it's been patched in with timber and plasterboard.
Hope this is helpful
Carpenter, Plasterer and Electrician and possibly a decorator or a company that completes all these work
You will need a builder and electrician.
