I'm plastering a new shower, theres an existing block wall and newly framed wall with cement board up. What kind of base coat and plaster do I need?
If you have new plasterboard or cement board you do not need to plaster it you can tile straight over it unless they are big tiles then you need to use cement based adhesive
For the cement board use sbr as a primer then tile as for the block work use hardwall baseboard followed by multifinish
we need to do first quote of hardwoall or bonding to have a good support for new Skiming .
First apply pva and bond after plaster
You could use moisture boards also two coats of multi finish plaster would be perfect for you
Moisture resistant boards and board finish
The cement board can be primed and tiled straight on. The block wall can either be sand and cement waterproof render and skim. Or dry lined with a green moisture resistance board then skimmed
A water prove cement mix on both then skim both after a curing period off seven day so you can tape any shrinkage or crack along both joints
