Mixer tap shower temperature

Over the last few months my shower temperature has noticably dropped. Its a wall mounted device with a single controller knob, the further it turns the hotter it is. I've gone from a 3/4 turn for a good temperature to 100% plus increasing the boiler set temperature. Living in a hard water area i'm thinking that there has been some scale forming in the hot pipe. Is there a way to descale the internals without causing damage, i.e. pour in vinegar from the shower nozzle?

It's probably the thermostatic valve on the mixer

Likely the internal cartridge that regulates the temperature has limescale build up and this is causing your temperature to be irregular in the shower head

I think the thermostat mechanism internally could be on its way out maybe more effective to replace the unit

There is a way of servicing these showers , by purchasing a service kit for them , the only problem is , if the thermostat is scaled up , removing the scale with vinegar/scale remover or similar then this may not solve the problem as the thermostat itself may now be at fault from the long term effects of the scale . Best Option: replace thermostat if thermostatic if not , replace valve itself
