Bathroom light bulb popped out

Last week I went to put the light on and the glass bit of the bulb popped out all in one piece. I got the metal bit out easy. Changed the bulb but now it doesn't work. Checked fuse box and is all switched on any helpful information?

My best advice to you is hire an electrician to fix the problem as well as replacing the old lighting to an LED.

Depending on the type of lamp , it may have a transformer in the ceiling which is where the problem is. Or you may have a faulty lamp. Even new lamps can be faulty , so it may be worth trying a lamp in another fitting to prove it works first.

Sounds as if you will need a new fitting installed as bulb blowing seems to have blown part of fitment

The lamp hold is faulty. It was experiencing partial contact that was why it popped out.

sometimes there can be a loose connection in the holder as the slight movement can do this , also if it is a B C holder then try checking one of the spring-loaded contacts to see if it has stuck down ? If you are doing this yourself please be certain to isolate your electric first .

Bulb holder has probably expanded, so the fit is more loose

Hi, This sounds like the fault, when the light bulb blew, has actually damaged the light fitting. If it is a standard central bathroom light then I would recommend having the light replaced as it is probably beyond repair. If you have spotlights however, depending how old they are, they may be on 12v transformers and that shall have blow. These are easy enough to buy put should only be fitted by a qualified and competent electrician. Hope this helps.

There may be a damaged cable inside the light fitting that would require an electrician to come and inspect it and if necessary test it.
