Leak from bathroom and water coming through plaster ceiling

I have water seeping through a downstairs toilet plastered ceiling from the bathroom(s) above on the 1st floor. The leak seems to come from the waste drainage pipework from either the toilet and/or shower units as water only appears/drips once the toilets/showers have been used. It cannot be from the water supply pipework as the drips/seepage would be constant. I need someone to remove the downstairs toilet ceiling to expose drainage pipework to determine what the cause of the seepage is but I'm not quite sure who to ask to do this for me . Any suggestions?

A plumber would be the first point of call then you maybe lucky and get a plasterer through the same person to make good again.

The fact is the drips can come from the water supply pipework if the leak is from the other side of the valve used to turn the water supply on, but a closer examination will identify the location of the leak if it is coming from the water on/off valve, for example, the bath/shower valves are usually located in a different location to the drains in the shower/bath, so look closely to check where the leak is coming from. The exploring work is usually done by a plumber, he should be able to open the ceiling and then fix the leak, you then will need a plasterer/builder to make good the damaged caused to the ceiling, care should be taken at each stage to minimise the repair works and give consideration to the next trades person to follow, this will keep cost down for the customer to a minimum.

Hi, any plasterer should be happy to help you remove the ceiling, it can be a bit of a messy job but definitely not a difficult job for somebody who regularly deals with this kind of work. Hope this helps

Look for a plumber 1st and let them know that the ceiling needs to be ripped down most plumbers would do that obviously adding to the price of there call out and fixing of leak… then once leaked is fixed you get hold of a plasterer who will then quote you to re-board an skim ceiling
