Skimming failed

My ceiling in living room was flaky and uneven due to patch up past years. It’s concrete and an older building. I decided to get it plastered skimmed. Thought it would work but it didn’t. Cracked and blown out most places. I have informed the builder. I am left very upset and stressed as to what I do now. He tried his best but it just won’t stick on. Is a plasterboard another option. I don’t think plastering would work. He did use PVA.

Hi there, did your builder PVA the walls he was applying the plaster to ? Also did you allow it to dry long enough before decorating etc.

Plaster boards will go well, with 2 inches screw and a glue.

If you do plastering again you may just face same problem again, as you would have to strip out all the ceiling, and start again.

Hope that helps

If he did the pva properly and it still blown then your best bet probably is to have it overboarded and then reskim just make sure all joints on board are taped up

you should first use bonding let it dry for a day and then use the multi finish and skim over it that’s the best option I think
