divert rainwater into the drain?

I have a down pipe on a outhouse that drains into ground, which is now getting damp inside...there is a drain about a meter away, is there anything that can be attached to bottom of downpipe to divert rainwater into the drain...thanks

Hi there,

you could try removing the shoe from the end of the pipe and adding a universal connection to the end that goes into the ground. Once you have added the connector, you can add a 1m length of rain pipe to the connection and divert the rainwater to the drain.

You would need to purchase some new brackets to attach the new diversion to the wall.

Hope this helps.

Sounds like its not providing any decent drainage and waters sitting in the ground, You could get a joint to fit to the bottom of the pipe and continue a pipe to divert the water to the drain. Or if there is concrete below instead of it being a trip hazard create a recess in the concrete to divert the water into the drain. Alternatively you could dig down 500mm and 500mm wide and fill the area full of chippings creating whats known as a soak away allowing the water to drain below the outhouses level.

You could reduce the rain water pipe above the ground and fit a p trap gully and tap into the drain best option

Yes an offset bend and length of downpipe would be the simplest way to tackle this problem ,or a barrel of sorts to catch the rainwater which then can be used to water your garden flowers or grass if you have any ..

Hi, if you use a gutter shoe at the end of the downpipe it will divert rain water into the direction you want and away from the foundations of your property
