Effect of sanding woodwork on already decorated walls?

I have employed decorators to line my walls with fibre liner and to paint walls ceiling and all woodwork in bedrooms. They have papered and painted the walls and ceiling. Woodwork has not been sanded and is of a gloss finish and I would now like a satin finish they are now going to sand the woodwork(I assume) can anybody tell me what effect this will have on my already decorated walls and ceiling as I am sure the woodwork should of been sanded down as part of the preparation work. Thank you.

Shouldn’t be too much of a problem in my opinion providing they can manage the dust from sanding down woodwork. Power tools like a sanding machine with a dust collector would be really helpful too. This is definitely not the best option as I also think the woodwork should have been done first but can be rectified

Yes it should have been sanded and filled already so now they will have to give everything else another coat

The correct way to do this is sand all surfaces prior to any painting and clean all dust off the surfaces before painting

The woodwork should have been sanded during the prep, you are right but sometimes it does not work out like that... If they are careful sanding and clean the dust off the wall it will be fine. I hope this eases your mind.

Sanding down the woodwork means there is going to be dust coming on the walls also if they touch the walls with sandpaper this will require touch up which probably will be notice.

It should not cause any damage to the walls or ceiling if carefully done all decorators do things differently and this is obviously the way they find that works for them
