Bad plastering job?

Hello, we recently had 4 windows replaced in our lounge bay window. They sent a plasterer to box it all in, and then a carpenter to fit the mdf windowsills. Once these were in we noticed that the window sills were all different heights and also on a slant. We have also recently noticed that one of the walls is not straight (if you put a spirit level against it vertically there is a big gap at the top.) We've been told by the window company that the plasterer had a really tough job with the wall as it's an old victorian house. My question is, should we expect walls to be unevenly plastered and window sills to be at different heights because of the age of the house? We have yet to pay the final instalment of the bill.TIA.

If using the level must be right in all points of the wall without gaps, either using Vernichi, horizontal or diagonal

Hi if the walls were slanted and not straight originally and then just skimmed which is only 3mm thick it won't straighten out the walls it is just to give a smooth finish for painting. The window sills shouldn't be a problem getting level as they should of stuck plasterboard around the reveals of the window and the sill but without pictures it's hard to advise. Thanks Lee

I can say the plaster thickness can be maximum 4 mm, 2 mm for first coat and 2 for second coat, normally is up to 3mm, if the wall are not straight you should do before to be plastered some improvements, you could not expect the plastere to fill up with plaster, but if you had a deal what they will make the walls straight,( dot and dup, bonding, san and ceament) etc. you should ask for that, windows sills it may be at same level,

No the plasterer should be able to make any wall straight, pva the area that is uneven and re plaster with bonding and use a straight edge to get it flat, then once its dried, re skim the area.
