Which Trade to employ

I need to replace the fibre board ceiling in my 4ft x 6ft boiler room with fire resistant plaster board and then skim the ceiling. I thought this was a job for a plasterer but am have difficulty finding one prepared to do this job. What other trade would consider undertake the replacement of the ceiling but without the plastering? Perhaps a carpenter?

Carpenter to replace the ceiling, plasterer to skim it. I'd be happy to replace the ceiling depending on the location.

Plasterers can normally board and skim, but if they have plenty of work on. They can earn more just skimming. You can get tappered boards. So any decorator can fill and paint.and it looks the same as plaster. Only if they are good......

A carpenter would be your best bet , although some people classify plasterboarding as one trade

A good carpenter could probably do this, I also carry out small areas of plastering so I would have considered this

There is actually a trade that only fits plaster board there called tackers. a carpenter can always fit but the price will probably be higher as we are very precise plus tackers fit plaster board day in day out ( I know sounds like hell on earth) there is a lot of plasterers that fit the board also. I can refer a few if you would like

I would contact some handymen and see if they could do it, some can do a small amount of plastering so might be a nice little job for a handyman
