Painting or wallpapering - which is cheaper?

Is it generally cheaper to wallpaper or paint a room? I'm thinking about the cost of labour rather than the materials.

it is cheaper to paint a room as wallpapering takes longer a decorator will charge more to paper than paint you are paying for a higher skill

It all depends on the materials, condition of the walls and the area size .For example a hall, stairs and landing would be cheaper in materials to paint than it would paper as you would have the drop in a stairwell etc.

Hi, that depends on what state the walls are like to be honest, plus some traders prefer to paint others paper and for around the same price normally.

As the cost of materials is not the deciding factor, then I'd personally say that painting is much quicker so would work out cheaper in relation to labour.
