first of all any changing to an existing circuit or boxes is a notifiable job it mean it must be certified by and authorised and registered electrician bs7671 wiring regulations otherwise it will effect your safety and your property and your home insurance.
it may not look difficult to you but before you start any work you must notify your supplier to come and install an isolator switch for you between the meter and your fuse box after that you are allowed to start to work on a consumer unit, i think you start with this first and after that you must follow all bs7671 18th edition wiring regulation to do the box and supervised by a registered electrician or just call a registered tradesman and make more inquiry i hope this could give you some guide lines.
