Measure up a tile, 2 inches won't break on a tile cutter so cut carefully with an angle grinder and with some tlc ensure it looks finished, it'll grout up fine with silicone beading to finish.
Sounds like damp getting into the tiles from the base of shower. is the grout to the floor tiling cracked or discoloured? sure sign of moisture movement. i would investigate further, check the plumbing and condition of the shower cubicle floor fixings, even the effectiveness of the shower door/curtain, etc. needs remedy asap.
One of the tiles may be slightly raised? could check all tiles are sitting flat if not pop them off and pack the adhesive more very slightly when sticking the same cuts on. you may need longer socket box screws for the socket plate now? second the that silicone the slight discrepancy between the socket plate and the tile as it sounds like the plastering on the wall around the socket is of poor finish.
There are plenty of exterior wood paints or stains on the market in local diy stores. you get what you pay for generally.
