Replace seal on franke inset sink

The seal around my franke 1.5 inset (under granite worktop) is disintegrating. Don’t want to pull it out without knowing what to replace it with. Can silicone be used as it seems to be more like a rubber gasket?

Silicone will replace the rubber gasket and it is a simple job to remove the sink by loosening the brackets attached to the worktop/ sink underneath the worktop.

Sillicone can be used as a last resort but I would always suggest putting back what the original was as the seal was designed specifically for that purpose … unfortunately to renew the proper seal you will have to disconnect the plumbing and waste and take the sink fully out the reseal it properly

Yes silicone can be used to re seal your sink aslong as it is nice clean and the area is prepared properly before re installing.

It’s better to loosen the under-mount Franke sink completely. Disconnect the waste fittings in order to take it out completely.
Clean off all the old silicone including the underside of the granite worktop.
Drill 10mm deep holes into the granite underside to accept retaining clips.
Apply new silicone to the sink and refit using the retaining clips to hold it in place.
One the clips are firmly holding the sink in position, reconnect the waste fittings
