My elderly mother has just been charged a considerable amount for having her hedge removed.
It is a long garden, but it took one man just over an hour to cut the hedge down. He is coming back to treat the roots and has left the hedge piled up at the bottom of her garden. He does not take it away. That is now up to myself and my mom.
Can anyone please advise me if GBP 400 is an extortionate fee for this or an average price.
Any help would be very appreciated as my mother is a pensioner.
Sounds like he charged by the job, but still not taking any waste away seems abit un fair and price wise depending what type of hedge and how high/long but still should've included removal.
That is a large amount of money and certainly if you are being charged that much then they should at least be disposing of the hedge and digging the roots up rather than simply treating them.
This is what I would do if I took on such a job.
Kind regards

About normal price with removal of hedge waste
I round half of that wood sound more like that if he is paying on getting rid of all the rubbish between 150 and 200 sounds about right
Hi sounds a bit expensive for just cutting the hedge down and leaving it for you to dispose of. Bulk of the cost is usually getting the cut down material off site.
I would say 400 is pretty extortionate especially for an hours work
That's alot I would have done it and took it away for around 250.00
I would of charged 650- 850 depending on the size to chop dig the roots out and take away
