About Us:

Hi i'm a hard floor fitter and i install various types of vinyl flooring and laminate flooring. I've been installing mostly vinyl floors for about 10 years. I know how to work with self levelling compounds and smoothing compounds, plywood and damp proofing etc, the prep. before any floor covering.

History:

I started out doing safety flooring and vinyl tiles in council properties for kitchens bathroom and wetrooms but then moved onto doing luxury vinyl tiles in newbuilds and residential homes. I've installed other types of flooring like laminate and rubber flooring along the way aswell. Glue down luxury vinyl tiles being my favourite floorcovering.

There's a couple of different types of vinyl tiles (click together and glue down) and while the click together type is slightly more forgiving, they both need a very flat and smooth base.
without seeing the floorboards i couldn't say 100% if it needs plying or not but my first reaction on hearing 'floorboards' is that installing plywood first is essential.
6mm thick ply is the usual and 9mm if the floorboards are wonky. if you were to lay the vinyl tiles directly to the floorboards then you stand a high chance of failure of the locking system of the click type and i wouldn't even like to imagine installing glue down tiles direct to floorboards.
