The wall should of had the correct thockness of plaster to bring it to the required position.
The best remedy would be to plasterboard tape (scrim tape) over the cracks and reskim and feather it in.

Mix the pva with water into a bucket large enough to fit a roller into, apply it with the roller, if it dries fairly quickly, then apply another coat,. then you will need to float it out with a coat of bonding to cover the artex, this will tske a couple of hours to dry before finally applying the finishing coat.
No the plasterer should be able to make any wall straight, pva the area that is uneven and re plaster with bonding and use a straight edge to get it flat, then once its dried, re skim the area.
