may have damaged drywall/plaster

I am currently removing wallpaper in a ten year old house. It is coming off in multiple layers. Most of it is coming off leaving a white paint like substance behind. However in places this is also being removed leaving behind a greyish soft slightly 'furry' textured covering. Also in worst areas there is what I suspect is plaster as it has that sort of texture. I have been using a steamer but trying to minimise how long i use it for. Any thoughts would be very much appreciated! I also wondered who I should get to come out to fix the damage (if its needed) i.e. plasterer or builder etc. Thanks

Depending how long the wallpaper has been on the walls will depend how difficult it is to remove. A plasterer will be able to patch damaged areas if required

When steaming on old lath and plaster walls the plaster can be badly cracked. Some may need to be removed and re boarded and others my be repaired by being filled, or taping the joint crack and re skimming. A Plastera will be able to do this for you.

You will need to talk to the plasterer if he can fix the situation( he will need to see it), if not then will need a builder.

It would be best to re plaster the walls for a perfect finish , they would prepare the walls first with a pva glue so it adheres properly . Hope this helps
