I'd like to run electrics to our shed in order to get a light and an electric socket would be nice as well. The nearest electrics would be in garage which is about 6m away. How much would I be looking at for this type of job?
There’s too many factors to be able to provide you with an accurate quote with out discussing and looking. But a rough figure you would be looking at is around the £280. Kindest regards. Chris.
U have to run a armecable direct from main supply and fix fuse box in shed then after run the socket and light cables
6m of external electric cable, junction box,switch,socket-£250
I hate to give a general price on this topic as it differs from every job and can range from 100 to a few hundred. This is due to the fact that steel wire armour cable must be taken from the consumer unit and adequately buried or clipped properly all the way to the shed. This must then be terminated properly and the socket and light must be wired properly using a containment method suited to the shed.
Would it be possible to do a sketch showing the garage and where the fuse box is , or indeed if the power is to come from a socket show where its located.
£180 to £200 roughly depends on the state of the electrics in the garage it will need to be protected by an rcd
Usually about £150 - £250 for the supply, just depends on the use of the shed, that determines the size of cable, and also where you are taking supply from, if the consumer unit backs onto an exterior wall that is a but easier than if its in the middle of the house.
around 200 pound. depends on the situation.
get in touch with me and we can discuss, thanks
You’d be looking about 350 including materials and labour for everything.
Providing you have a spare way in your current board.
Depends on the length of the run, how difficult the run is and what you'll be having in the shed
Would need to run a cable from your consumer unit in your house rather than garage, the amount would really depend on what needs done, is hard to have a rough idea until it is looked at.
This can be done straight from your DB as it’s own source or can be brought in from the garage. Depending on the route this wouldn’t cost much at all
Material cost and labour would be around 600
To fit new with 2 way fuse board light and socket £300
It would need site quoting as it is the cable run that is the costly bit.
If digging a trench is required (no garden wall accessible) you would be looking £200 estimated.
As long as there is space in your current consumer unit I would say that you need:-
SWA cable to run to the shed.
Mcb for the new circuit (in old board).
Small distribution board in shed.
Then light, switch and sockets for the shed!
Materials probably costing £250+
And the labour (guessing the new cable can be clipped and not buried) would be a full day at £280.
Hope this helps!
Again depending on a lot of factor the cable run ie buried Etc
How far it’s from consumer unit ?
It’s there any space in consumer unit if not you will need to looking for upgrade probably for bigger units.
How manny socket light you will want
This all important to give you quote
