Insulate and replaster front internal wall

I would like my front internal wall to be insulated with Thin Internal Wall Insulation (TIWI) and replastered.
I have removed the layer of paint, which was damaged due to penetrating damp (have filled holes and cracks that were on the outside wall). Not sure if the existing plaster can be maintained, and the TIWI put on top, or if the plaster needs to be removed.
The house is from 1890, so any plastering needs to be done with lime.
