I have been in the trade for 10 years and have a lot of experience in painting and decorating i have taken over the business from my grandad Kenneth sykes he was a multi tradesmen, he has had his business for 40 years and built a very good reputation he has sadly passed away so I am now taken over all the hard work he has done.
Also have a very large family that can also cover other trades.

Answers:

How long to leave plaster to dry?

Plasterboard takes on average 2-3 days to dry when plastered,it is advisable to wait at least a week before painting new plaster. sometimes a month for the fresh plaster to be completely dry out on my experience

Can you paint over Matt emulsion on skirting boards?

I would sand not back to bare wood just enough for the paint to fade then a undercoat and then paint with satinwood or gloss

Used gloss paint instead of undercoat - how to rectify?

Sand back all the gloss shine out of the wood then use any wood prime quick dry undercoat then use satin wood for a mid sheen or you can use gloss never undercoat with gloss straight away
