This could potentially be to the new sensitivity on the new consumer unit, (rcbos/rcd)
This seems to me as if the power to the pull chord is split feeding the light and the shower. if this is the case it needs looking at urgently due to the severity.
Minimum £300-£400 depending how many circuits and current state of fuseboard.
