Scrape back bonding with flat scraper adds texture for key and gains the depth for skimming.
Take it back to brick work if applying freshly dotted board for best finish
No but the surface would need to be primed prior to applying render.
Diluted acid wash
I personally wouldn’t but would reboard or apply a thin coat of bonding over the area.
