If the tiler wanted to complete the job within the time scale given he should of used rapid set. also he should of fully explained to the client the process.

You would have to use some form of adhesive compatible for that application to skimm over the grout lines
or fully remove yhe tiles so the application can be installed on a flat and even surface.

To prevent any water leaks from baths'sinks'toilets or shower trays it has to be silicone and sealed to prevent any leaks making sure all gaps have been sealed correctly.
Cut damaged area out carefully and install the cement board correctly so it is supported on top of the wooden beams that supports the floor making sure it is strong enough to carry the weight once installed
