About Us:

Hi, my name is Jerome and I have been fitting wood flooring for over 30 years. I work to a very high standard, am clean, tidy, and respectful towards my clients and their property. For the last few years, I have worked exclusively with a flooring company and been their only fitter. We have parted company because they now use in-house fitters and I prefer my independence. Regards, Jerome.

History:

I’ve been installing wooden floors since the late eighties. For the first 15 years, I worked for two companies in East London and Essex, and for the last 20 years, I’ve been working for myself and have been getting commissions from Direct Wood Flooring in Wallington. I have been trading as JC Flooring for over six years now.

thanks for your questions. firstly laminate flooring is a type of floating floor and needs room to expand and contract depending upon the temperature and moisture content in the area where the flooring is installed. therefore an expansion gap of around 10mm is needed for the entire floor perimeter so it really shouldn’t be fitted “up to” anything static like cupboards or skirting boards.
regarding putting bits of flooring back, it should all be attached and not be able to come apart, if it does then it hasn’t been installed correctly and may need attention.
i hope this helps, jerome.
hi, the measurements you’ve given are approximately 18sqm. to install laminate flooring i charge £15sqm which comes to £270. my prices are about average but the standard of my work is of the highest quality. i am also polite, conscientious and tidy. so when i’ve finished, apart from having a fantastic new floor, you wouldn’t know that i’d been there.
i’m sorry but laying sheet vinyl is not my specialty so i can’t help you.
when i fit skirting board i always punch the nails in and rebate the screws so that i can easily fill them. i also apply caulk so that all that needs doing is the painting. i am overly fussy about the quality of my work and like leaving my clients happy. unfortunately not everyone works to the same standards and some aspects of the job need to be agreed upon before work starts.
regarding the plastering work, that isn’t something that i have any professional experience in so i can’t offer an opinion.
suspended timber floors are structural and the flooring that i install is classified as cosmetic, so it’s not in my area of expertise. however a contractor who specialises in that field would be able to help you.
