My ceiling pull switch for the shower has stuck in the 'ON' position.
Red LED lit and red 'power on' light at the shower unit also lit.
Shower working fine. My question is: Will it be ok to leave things as they are? I presume the two indicator lights use very little current.
Best thing to do is to get a new switch as it has become faulty for a reason it sounds like the mechanism has gone but a new switch will be a quick job to swap over.
Thank you for your enquiry.
The switch will need to be replaced. You must be able to isolate the power to the shower in an emergency. Replacing the switch and testing and inspecting the existing circuit on completion is a job for a qualified electrician but is usually straightforward.
Hope this helps.

Chris
i would suggest you not to leave it like that. and get someone to change that for you ASAP, for your own safety.
Hi i recommend to change as the can be dangerous the don't cost that much to by new pull switch
I would recommend changing this as soon as possible. If a fault was to take place in the shower itself perhaps due to a loose connection or faulty wiring then there would be no way to isolate the shower quickly and safely.
It’s perfectly fine if you have a new bs consumer unit if you have the old style it’s worth replacing won’t be a large cost.
As for using up electric it will hardly use anything until you use it,
Ideally you should have a local point of isolation that works
It would be best to change it as the pull cord is there for safety as well .
You need to be able to isolate the power to your shower
Hi,
It needs to be looked at due to the possibility of thermal damage caused by loose connection/s this may have heated the plastic up behind the switch. If this is the case then it's quite possible that it could cause a fire.
I would advise changing it
It is safe to leave it as it is but would definitely advise having a new pull cord fitted soon
The neon in the shower pull cord would cost next to nothing to run, the only problem is that pull cords stop switching due to the mechanism inside the switch getting stuck, I'd recommend replacing the pull cord as it's ideally an isolation point where you can safely isolate the power going to the shower incase there's a water leak or fault with the shower.
You have to change your pull cord switch for shower to turn it off after shower to isolate the shower supply
Cost of new switch upto £20
2 hrs labour / testing
The switch can be left but then you have no way of isolating the shower in the event of a problem .. for the switch to fail I. The first place may need to be up rated
I recommend this being change. As this could causing arcing over time if the switch has not energised correctly. Potential fire hazard if left in a stuck position
No because u can’t isolate the shower if something goes wrong
I would not leave that. As a professional i would change the pull cord for a new one as the exsiting one is faulty.

Ideally you want a way to isolate the shower so you should swap the shower switch
Yes it would be ok to leave it on but at the same time I would advise the switch to be replaced.
