Hi, in my conservatory, the black rubber seal between the frame and the glass is coming away internally. Why is this and is it fixable? I do have pictures but can’t see anywhere I can add them. Any help appreciated. Many thanks x
The black rubber seal is called the "gasket". It is fixable if the windows are of a reasonable age. This would require a service engineer to come out and take the glass out the frames and then re-gasket for you. Hope that helps.
Could be the mechanism on the hinge has started to fail I would ask is it a door seal or a window seal if it’s door it can be adjusted if it’s a window it might need replacing
contact a company that installs double glazing and can change your seal
Overtime rubbers shrink, they would need replacing.
You can usually push rubbers back in with a scraper as you usually fit the windows then push rubbers in once window is in
Gasket needs replacing. Probably wrong size fitted
yes, polycarbonate seals and frames end caps from a local supplier, waltham abbey, near swb
This is probably due to then decaying from age, or shrinking due to the weather, if it is causing a leak this should be fixable but removing the glass, stripping and replacing the gasket
Hi, as I understand from your question, rubber gasket is sticking out or sticking in.
It is fixable. Best way is to take glazing unit out and push gasket back into groove, then put unit back.
Hope it helps
