Probably a daft question but I bought a trim pack for a Mira element shower part number 1617.164 as the other cover fell off and the plastic piece was broken in two .
When I try to put the new cover back with the plastic piece in it , there see me s to be a resistance, do I just force it on? as I am frightened it may break the plastic again!
Thanks Bill
It's understandable to feel hesitant about forcing the new cover onto the plastic piece, as you don't want to risk breaking it again. I would recommend trying to identify where the resistance is coming from before attempting to force it on.
Check to make sure that the plastic piece is aligned properly with the cover and the shower unit. Sometimes, if it's not aligned correctly, it can cause resistance when trying to fit it back on. You may also want to inspect the plastic piece closely to ensure there are no cracks or deformities that may be causing the issue.
If everything looks to be in order, then you could try applying some gentle pressure to the cover and plastic piece, being careful not to use too much force. It's better to take your time and try to fit it on carefully, rather than risking breaking the plastic again
First inspect the area of future installation, if the work preceding the insallation is done properly mark the position of the mixer and fit the securing brackets , remove the build-in shround and secure the chrom trim to the mixer , fit the concealing plate and control assembly , check the mixer for leaks .
Ensure that all areas are clean and free of any possible scale build up.
You could try a little lubricant before pushing in place. WD40 would be fine. Once all together wipe access away.
Hi Bill
This should take approximately 10 minutes to fit yourself. Its just a case of pressing down on the retaining lugs and sliding the old shroud off. Then this will simply go straight in to place. You don’t need to be a plumber or a diy buff to fit this.
Remove the temperature control knob from the front of the shower.
Turn the white hub all the way to the hot setting (fully to the left).
Test the water from the shower to see if the maximum temperature has improved as desired.
Hello
It's difficult to answer without really seeing the issue/problem?
Are you sure it's the right part number for the shower? As sometimes 'older' units can be different in size to 'newer' versions.
Can you supply any photos please?
Just put it carefully, It's not going to break or fall.
Check to make sure it is correct part first and check broken part against new part along as they are the same should be OK to use a little force
This is something that can be looked at, a visit to the property or a short video will determine if this is something that’s possible or if the incorrect part has been purchased.
