Prices are agreed before starting any work this will include any extras or discussed prior to work. tiling can be grouted the same day it really depends on the adhesive and substrate tiling on! 6 hours around a so down seems to be a little too long to be fair but this even if it takes that long will fall into his price!
The answer is you’d need to remove tiles or depending on substrate unison’s the tiles and a plaster will be able to skim over the top! grout can not be patched in as grout will not bond to existing grout
I be wound replace with chipboard and then use a backer board approximately min 10ml and lay with a flexible adhesive and screw with galvanised screws and washers.
Personally i’d remove all tiles and retile with the tiles you require!
Min 8ml plus the tile! also depends on what floor your tiling on ie being concrete or wooden so you’d need to think about backer thermo boards or ditra mat for concrete for moisture purposes
