Hi, I’m looking to fit a simple auto locking gate latch however the gate is at an angle to the post on which the lock part will be fitted, would a standard latch still work?
Hope that makes sense
Hi, the best way is, you should level the gate and find horizontal Place for lock ang hatch .
Yeah I would chip out but of the wood to suit the angle of the gate to make it right I would only charge you a one hour call out fee of 60 pound
You can work out the size of the lock by measuring the distance from the edge of the door to the centre of the door handle or knob. This measurement will give you the approximate size of the backset which will allow you to identify which size lock or latch you have.
There’s usually a tolerance of about 2cm to play with for latches for gates
Hi, you would have to put the latch at the same angle as the gate is then it will work perfectly.
What type of latch are we talking about?
Yes standard lock should work
hiya i dig around the post and re level the post both sides by using leveller that should let the latch to drop in the locklatcth
No would need a different style
Yer a standard latch will still work
Yes a standard latch is still suitable and is usually simple to fit.
If your gate is at an angle to the post, a standard auto-locking gate latch may not work as effectively or securely. In such cases, you should consider using a self-adjusting or adjustable gate latch.
These types of gate latches are designed to accommodate gates that are not perfectly aligned with the post. They have mechanisms that can adapt to the angle of the gate, ensuring a secure lock even when the gate is not in a completely closed or aligned position.
Before purchasing a latch, be sure to check its product description to ensure it's suitable for use on gates that are not aligned with the post. This will help you find a latch that works well for your specific gate configuration.
I would have to see for my self but I could pop round and take a look by all means
Depends if the post is a Harris rail? If you have a post simply change it and attach a Harris rail too the wall side and your latch can shut too this
Depending on how much of and angle and how the mechanism work this might still work, if not pack it out out cut it out to suit
Yes if we use a peice of 2x1 to mcreat a angle in wich it will not be awquard
No an angled gate latch would be required.
