Outdated fuse box query

Hi there. After our father passed away we have his house on the market. The electrics have been given a low score due to having an old fuse box. There has never been any issues with the electrics in the house and I understand that it needs updating. Do you think it possible to have an electrician providing a safety certificate even with this old box, or even to provide a report of assurance that there is no rewire required and the cost of fitting a new fuse system. Unfortunately we don't have funds for a rewire. And we feel this may be putting off buyers as the way it is perceived on the report is that it's a massive concern. We aren't sure what would be involved. It's possible we could update the fuse box but a rewire would be too expensive for us.

Yes
The house would benefit from having and eicr (electrical installation condition report)
This would test all cables and fixtures to allow to give a good report on what I would advise to do next.

I would recommend an EICR of the property to establish if the existing installation is in good condition. I will however suggest that if the consumer unit is dated and has no suitable protection that meets current requirements and especially if selling the property then it would be advisable to replace said consumer unit after a full inspection has been conducted. Available for any questions if needed.

I don’t think any electrician would give you a satisfactory report as it’s their name is on the certificate to say it’s safe or not and why
The consumer unit has to have RCD protection for all circuits in the property and also a surge protection device fitted in the consumer unit
You also have to make sure the main water supply is bonded and also the gas if there’s any in the property also the wiring in the house should be tested to make sure it’s safe to replace the consumer unit and that nothing will be tripping when installed
