Hi,
could you tell my if you have to reset an mcb or rcd at your consumer unit?
kind regards
rich
Hi,
it's advised that the work should be carried out by a registered electrician.
if your consumer unit has no signs of thermal damage and the switch gear is compatible then there should be no need to replace although it may be recommended to be replaced for a non-combustible type if located under the stairs or above an entrance/exit door. rcd protection is a must and would need to be fitted if not present.
Hi,
it needs to be looked at due to the possibility of thermal damage caused by loose connection/s this may have heated the plastic up behind the switch. if this is the case then it's quite possible that it could cause a fire.
An electrician needs to come to inspect due to water ingress in the fittings. i would advise to get the affected fitting replaced due to corrosion and the issues that may occur.
Depending on condition of the consumer unit? if its a combustible type consumer unit and all is well with switch gear and no thermal damage then a code 3 which is only a recommendation is usually put on the e.i.c.r. certificate.
