Hi there, my internal walls in my home are made of brick... I'm looking to fit a sliding barn door in the next couple of weeks. Is fitting the door track into brick suitable to carry a 28kg door?
Many thanks
John
Hi Jon yes if installed correctly it should be fine.
Yes it is. Make sure use proper brick fittings
Yes, to be honest a 28kg door is fairly light. the track will be very solid into brick work and the door is bolted in the top and a grove routed in the bottom to keep it straight. I do advise spending a little more on the track, preferably one with ball bearings, trust me that extra few pounds will be worth it in the long run.
Hi yes with suitable fixings this would be more than adequate to take the weight.
Yes this is ok. As long as the brickwork is solid and has no movement to it
Hi John
Thank you very much for your enquiry. Brick wall should be suitable to attach the sliding door track, but please double check if there isn’t any wires near.
Kind regards
Chris
Yeah no problem at all John.
Yes, absolutely. As long as the correct fixings are used this won't be an issue at all.
Hello John,
Most wall anchor fixings have weigh ratings listed for them which indicate whether they are suitable or not. We have been using a number of wall anchor systems recently with metal collets etc that can hold in excess of 45kg on each fixing so there will be suitable fixings out there.
If you just look for heavy duty wall anchors for brick/ blockwork, these should provide suitable results.
Kind regards
Another fellow called John :)
No it’s not suitable for this a smooth and properly levelled surface must be made .
