Removing a chimney breast

Do I need Freehold Management permission to remove a chimney breast that is not linked to any neighbours sideways? I am aware that under the Party Wall Act, as it is a block of flats, only 3 floors building, my property is in the first floor and the chimney is not connected with any other property, only the partition walls considered connected by floors. So,I therefore need to communicate and notify the neighbours above and underneath my flat. With Structural Engineers reports and plans presented and with Building Control approved to go ahead by the council, can the Freehold Management of the building deny such work to go ahead without any reasonable explanation apart from the clauses of the lease that are draconian and not affecting the structure of the building as such scare monger ideology imparting to few owners but not to all in a fair manner.

You do not need permission to remove chimney as long as you have professionals to do it.

I think it definitely would be best to contact the freeholder as Building regs always depend on the council for that area , all councils are different and have there own set rules/regs basics are the same but it really can vary . Contact your local council before any major works are undertaken hope this helps

No you will not need planning permission but you would have to make sure the upper floor is properly supported.

It is likely under the freehold and management contract this comes under structural work and they would need to authorise it
