New shed... am I being conned?

Hi I just recently paid quite alot for decking and a garden room/shed.. It is only up 6 weeks and water is coming in from around entire bottom and sides, the guy who built it is lookin to just run silicone around the edges which I think is just putting plaster over big problem.. Could you tell me if this is what should be done.. I have pictures avail if needed and am desperately worried I'm being duped

Hi there what you have told me I wouldn't say re silicone in it would help if it is in close proximity to where it could have water come in it should have be resolved before being built in the first place best to have someone to look at it before thinking of replacing.

Hello just running silicone in the inside won’t solve the problem you just hiding it for the wood to go rotten over time somwhere around the shed it’s not properly connected hence why you’ve got water coming through it needs to be properly assessed before just doing this and that especially after just 6 weeks that’s hardly nothing compared to most sheds that stand for ever 15 years and then just start to have a leak hope this advice is useful to you thank you

I would not use silicone as it is not gonna do no good but it sounds like it is a drainage problem you can put a cement fillet along instead of silicone without seeing the problem this is to solution that I would use by the sounds of things so the water can run away from the building the silicone would only last a few months at the most

Silicone is never the answer to a permanent leak the sides of a new shed should never leak unless rotten.

Don't let him run silicone round the bottom. Clearly there is a problem with the way it's been build and he is trying to get a quick fix for a few weeks.
The problem will come back!!

Silicone is not going to work, you need to see how it’s getting in and work out solutions how to prevent it. Without seeing it, that’s as much as I can help. Good luck.

Silicone isn’t the answer but hard to say a carpenter would really need to visit and have a proper look to give you the best advice but don’t accept him doing silicone that’s only a cowboy temp repair
