Hi, I'm planning to build a decking area behind the garage in my back garden, and would like some advice on how best to attach the frame to the posts where I cannot access the "front" of the frame to screw through into the post.
The area I am decking is enclosed on 3 sides by the garage to the left, my shared fence with the neighbour to the back and another fence to the right as you look at it.
So essentially, I won't be able to get round the "back" of the decking on those 3 sides. The videos I have watched suggest securing the frame to the posts with 100mm coach screws by screwing through the frame and into the posts. So how best can I attach the frame to the posts if I'm unable to get round to the front of the frame to do this?
Thanks
Sam
Hi Sam. I have you thought about digging a hole post crete the posts in. Then attach your joist to posts. And work of that. I'm happy to talk you through it.
Ask you neighbours if you can temporarily take a few fence panels off so you can get found the back ot secure bolts through the decking and the post. Then put the fence panels back on
Hi Sam you could put the posts outside the frame or use load bearing brakets to support the frame hope this helps
Coach bolts and nuts washers galvanised
For example 4 inch post 2 inch frame get 7 inch coach bolts
You could maybe use some roosters brackets then support the frame with another post on the actually frame if that makes sense
try turn it around two the side or get someone two try get around it
