I'd say a soft touch would definitely wear quicker and get squashed but I wouldn't recommend it as it would be a lot slipper than a regular thin one and you don't want a slippy carpet on the stairs. I wold not lay one The stairs personally.
Yes it will as the fibres are not stronger enough for the traffic up and down the stairs
Yes, it will wear quicker than a tight short twist pile carpet, but that won’t be as soft to touch
Depending on the quality of the soft touch carpet it can wear quickly due to it being a high traffic area.
Yes and more hard-wearing carpet which will be more suitable for traffic up and down hallway stairs and landing
It depends on the density of the carpet. If it's softer to touch its more likely less dense and therefore will wear faster but it can vary on how busy the areas are and how often its hoovered etc.
Yes this product will wear quicker as the yarn in the manufacturing process is already blown to create a soft touch carpet
Quicker than the other areas of the room but providing it has good underlay overlapping the edges of the stairs and the rest of the room then you will get a good lifespan
Any carpet will wear if not maintained
A soft touch carpet will always tread down quickly, however with regular hoovering and a good quality underlay it should help mitigate the problem!
Probably but all depends on trafic
It's a well used area so a hard wearing carpet would be better .
